“…What mascara do you use?..”
“…What foundation is your favourite?..”

These are a couple of the most common questions I get asked. Well I’m going to let you in on my makeup bag treasures and show you all my favorite products that I use day to day. Of course I have baskets upon boxes, upon drawers of makeup that I love, and will often use for certain looks or occasions, but my everyday makeup bag is surprisingly simple.  However, all the products are essential items that I couldn’t be without.

Over the years I have tried and tested pretty much everything in the makeup world and these are my final picks for everyday use.  These products stay with me and go with me everywhere. They are the products I buy again and again.

Starting with my skin:

1. Charlotte Tilbury Wonder glow.
After my moisturizer, this product is my first step. I love this beautiful glowing primer and have been using it for over a year, usually daily. I use it like a highlighting base layer before my foundation. I apply a small amount with my fingers to my cheekbones and forehead to give my skin that radiant, dewy effect in the right places. I find it works perfectly with my Dior Forever Foundation because that foundation is not designed to give a dewy finish.

2. By Terry Touch-Expert Advanced Multi-Corrective Concealer.
The second product I reach for is my By Terry Touch-Expert Advanced Multi-Corrective Concealer. I use this as an under eye corrector before concealer. I can often get dark circles so using this underneath my usual concealer helps to brighten and correct any blue tones. This amazing product is designed with a light-keeper advanced radiant lift complex, which means that it eliminates signs of fatigue and brightens shadows. I simply apply a thin layer on my under eye, focusing on the inner corners and pat lightly with my ring finger until blended into the skin.

3. Dior Forever Foundation.
I prefer applying my foundation before my concealer as I only like to conceal what I need to.  Often the foundation gives enough coverage so doing it this way helps you not to overuse a product.I’ve been using Dior Forever foundation for over 3 years now and I still absolutely love it. I will often use it on brides as I find it works well on most skin types and gives a beautiful finish.

Personally I like a natural but flawless looking finish, so I find the coverage of this product works perfectly for me. I also like the fact it never feels too matte or too dewy which is great because I can then add any highlight or matting effect where needed.

4. HD Forever- Ultra HD Invisible Cover Concealer.
A a final touch I add concealer where needed. I use the HD Forever concealer because it has a gorgeously smooth finish and works well for any area on the face. I find it’s bright enough to use underneath the eyes but not too bright that you wouldn’t use it to touch up any imperfections. I’d apply this again with my ring finger to my under eyes, bridge of my nose, chin and in between my forehead for some highlighting definition and extra coverage where I know can wear throughout the day.

Add colour and tones:

Once my foundation is in place, I need a bit of colour definition to give some contours to my make up:

1. MAC Matte Bronzer.
You’ll notice I haven’t used a powder on top of the foundation. This is because I find my skin simply doesn’t need it. Instead, I wait a couple of minutes before using my bronzer to make sure my foundation is dry. I find this MAC Matte Bronzer to be an all round classic, it may look dark so use it sparingly and adjust the application to suit your skin.  This type of bronzer works on anyone. Apply a light dusting with a larger bronzing brush to the forehead, temples and cheeks to give definition and contour without looking obvious.

Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Highlight Sculpting Duo

2. Charlotte Tilbury Bronze & Highlight Sculpting Duo.
After the matte bronzer, I then go on to add a light dusting of the famous Charlotte Tilbury bronzer from her sculpting duo. This has become a staple product in my own makeup bag but also my professional kit. The smooth powder has a soft focus illuminating effect, which just lifts the skin’s complexion and gives a subtle glowing effect. I’ll use it in a similar way to the matte bronzer, again applying it with a large fluffy bronzing brush to my forehead, cheeks and a little on my jaw line and neck.  I’ll then dust a little of the highlighter onto the tops of my cheek bones, bridge of my nose and arches of my brows with a smaller fluffy highlighting brush.

3. Bobbi Brown Desert Rose Blusher.
I rarely change the colour of my blusher unless I’m wearing a dark red lip then this colour tends to be too pink. However this color ‘Desert rose’ by Bobbi Brown just seems to be my perfect match for my skin tone. I find it’s just the right colour in-between a rosy pink and with a touch of coral therefore it compliments my skin tone really well. I’ll use this with an oval shaped blusher brush to the apples of my checks up to my cheekbone.

A little on my eyes:

I’m not hugely into a made up eye on a daily biases but this is one of the looks I tend to do more often:

1. Eye brows: Laura Mercier Brow definer pot – Shade ‘Soft’.
This is a thick crème texture that applies like a powder but has a crème like texture. It clings to each hair giving thickness to the brows. I prefer using this product with a brush rather than using a pencil as I find it gives a softer, more natural finish. I find with a pencil it can be hard not to get harsh lines.I use it with an angled brow brush and a brow wand to brush through the hairs to keep the application soft and subtle.

NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil- Shade ‘Skorpios’

2. NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil- Shade ‘Skorpios’.
Do you have one of those products that you just love? You buy it time and again and heaven forbid it got discontinued.. You would be devastated! Well that’s what happened with this product. I couldn’t find it anywhere until I checked in a Selfridges a while back and they had two randomly in stock, so of course I bought them both to keep me going. This is a crème eye shadow pencil in the most perfect coppering, bronze colour, which suits my blue eyes perfectly. The main reason I swear by it so much is because I don’t need a brush to apply it. I literally draw it onto my lid straight from the pencil, also adding a little under the bottom of my lashes and blend away with my finger- it has a smooth, silky texture that blends gloriously and never leaves any harsh lines.

3. NARS Larger than Life Long-wear eye pencil- Shade Via Appia.
Usually I’ll leave my eyes just with the copper eyeshadow and mascara however sometimes I like to go a little more smokey on the bottom lashes and waterline, so this dark chocolaty toned eye pencil compliments it perfectly to give more definition. It’s uber soft so can be smudged easily with your finger to create a real smokey feel.

Dior Iconic Overcurl Mascara

4. Dior Iconic Overcurl Mascara.
Love, Love, Love this mascara! There is so much choice out there for mascaras these days but personally my must have is the Dior Iconic Overcurl. The wand is curved to give lift and curl to the lashes without leaving them clumpy. I adore the fluttery effect it gives to the outer corners of my lashes.

Lips to complete the look:

1. Nathalie Bond Organics Sweet Orange Lip balm.
I was given a set of Nathalie Bond Organic Skin products for Christmas and it was just the most perfect gift. I instantly took a liking to the natural ethos behind the products, but it was this lip balm in particular that got me hooked! At first I loved how nourishing and moisturizing it was as I would use it before bed however one day I patted a little under my lip stick and it simply transformed the finish of a usually quite drying, dull finish lipstick to a super silky, creamy finish without changing the colour of the lipstick. It’s now become a must have in my makeup bag.  The bonus with her products is that they are all totally natural, organic and made from essential oils and ingredients.

2. MAC Velvet Teddy Lipstick.
This classic nude tone lipstick should be in every woman’s makeup bag. However, as much as I’ve always loved this lipstick, I have struggled with its super matte finish.  It can be drying after a while, so in combination with Sweet Orange balm it completely transformed it for me. I can now enjoy this perfect nude without it drying my lips by the end of the day.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading my day-to-day makeup and beauty regime, keep a look out for videos on similar subjects to come in the near future.
