When is a coffee house not a coffee house? Cheltenham’s newest meeting place has opened its doors on Regent Street and promises to offer patrons something a little bit more than the standard coffee chain experience. The Find provides a beautifully designed space to enjoy a selection of artisan coffees, sweet treats, a well stocked bar and an extensive all day dining menu which includes fabulous children’s options for younger visitors. We were lucky enough to get a sneak preview before the official opening, meeting the lovely team behind the project and tasting some of the incredible dishes on the menu.
The Find is labour of love for owner David Orme, who grew up in Cheltenham but returned three years ago with his children after his wife sadly passed away. Teaming up with creatives Tash Willmore of Culpepper & Co and Kelly James of Shadowplay Design, the trio pledged to create a modern interpretation of the Regency coffee house, offering the very best of local welcomes. Meeting the team, their enthusiasm for what they have created is infectious and their admiration for each other is clear to see. Speaking of his vision David said: “I love food, I love drink but actually I just love people.” He is keen to support local business and producers, choosing to stock a selection of local artisan produce including breads and pastries from the Salt Bakehouse in Stroud, coffee from Peter James in Ross on Wye and spirits from local distilleries.
The addition of a workspace on the top floor of the building offers a practical option for independent professionals looking for a flexible change from conventional work arrangements. The Workplace provides comfortable, airy and well-equipped office and meeting spaces with high quality Wi-Fi, superfast fibre broadband and even a brilliantly retro phone booth should you want a little more privacy. An app is also on its way for workers to order coffee from downstairs from the comfort of their own (very high tech!) desks.
This is much more than a coffee house. The team behind it have clearly thought through every last detail, from the living wall in the coffee shop to the botanical aspects of the branding. Their passion is clear to see in everything that they have done at The Find. Senior Creative Tash said, “I can’t believe how excited I got just about coffee cups. We’re excited about each and every chair here!” The Find offers people a place to simply have just a coffee if that’s all you want or on a different day enjoy a thoughtfully selected glass of wine and some supper. This is a place where you’ll always find something a little bit different.
I can’t wait for my next visit.
